FESTIVAL OVERVIEW
The Garrett County Celtic Festival will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Friendsville, Maryland's riverfront community park. We attract visitors from a wide regional base. The festival honors the heritage, arts, and culture of the Appalachian immigrants from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Brittany. Attendance in 2018 was approximately 800 adults and 80 youth. The 2019 festival continued to expand living history with additional Chautauqua programming, and further developed the new Rainbow's End children's area. Performers include Shanty Irish, Aurora Celtic, and IONA bands, the Sean Heely Celtic Trio, numerous individual musicians, Scottish and Irish dancers, Highland Athletes and multiple Pipe and Drum bands, field demonstrations and 120+ children. Total attendance was 1500 and we expect post-COVID attendance to equal that.
